Been going up and down on the divide all day long, fact that there’s no tread makes in fairly difficult, the gale force winds make it a bloody chore!
After our detour traverse of the Tetons we added up how many miles we’d been walking in the wrong direction (south) and deducted that from the next section of the CDT. Where we’ve ended up is Lima, hiking along the border between Idaho and Montana. My dad and brother hired a car and dropped us off, we drove along side the mountains we’d be missing out – think we made the right choice, the Tetons were infinetly better!
This is Old Faithfull blowing his top. I was pleasantly suprised by this place, thought they’d be millions of tourists getting in our way, but it’s not too bad.
Love the interior of the Old Faithfull Inn, feels like I’m in an enormous Victorian tree house :) They also do a pretty mean all you can eat breakfast to boot:
I didn’t see this one blow, Giles did and he said it was the best… Couldn’t be bothered to wait 3 hours for it to go again though.
It’s not a huge one, but it’s the first time I’ve ever seen boiling hot water being ejected from the Earth and I’m impressed.
What made it harder was that we didn’t even have to cross it… Once we realised we had to jump back over, which was a bit more tricky than this way round!
It’s no homemade chutney, but sure hit the spot this lunchtime. Interesting that the supermarket in Jackson Hole had an ‘English’ section, you could get salad cream, yorkies and all sorts :) sadly no British booze though, we were on the bud:
