I take my hat off to Eric Testroete for his Halloween costume this year. It was inspired by ‘big-head mode’ in videogames and is surprisingly creepy when seen in the real world.

Ha ha, this cracked me up, I didn’t understand it at first – can you see what’s not as it seems it this picture?
That girl climbing into the bunk has got her arse out right?
(Click through for the spoiler)
I‘m going to have to start a category ‘events I wish I’d gone to but only just found out about them after they happened’ to remind me of these things next year. Ok I’ve done it.
This shot is taken from the The World Stone Skimming Championships 2009 on Easdale Island, Scotland. I saw that Anne Ward (I Like) had been this year. Apperently the island is made out of slate, so has plenty of little flat rocks that are ideal for skimming. It’s strange that the results are in meters, me and my brother always used to play the most bounces wins. Either way I want a go and will try and remember it next year!
I can’t play guitar, but there’s something irresistible about this amazing banana guitar! Please buy it quick before I succumb to temptation.. Apparently it’s not actually a banana, but rather a moon (Kawai Moonsault), here a video of someone playing one.
Anyhyow, £3,322.75 started bid… and 4 days left on the auction.
Great time lapse video from German hiker Christoph Rehage growing his beard (and barnet) while walking back home from Beijing?! He didn’t make it all the way back to Germany, just across China (4646km), but he did keep a bloody good account of his hair growing.
I’ve seen a few facial hair time lapses over the years, none as good as this. Some times it’s the standard day by day frame by frame technique, but usually he mixes it up with multiple shots as he rotates showing more of the scenery, or people in the background and some great timely facial expressions.
Strange seeing him shave it all of at the end, looks a completely different person, character even, I think he looks like a nicer person with the beard, he’s kinda slightly sinister without? Anyhow I know when I shaved my beard off after the CDT it freaked me out and I grew it straight back to cover the person I didn’t recognised below. If think with the caption “was it really me?” at the end, he felt the same. Grow it back Christoph, beards are best!

While I’m on the subject of cakes, I came across this Threadless Cake baking competition (now ended). Basically you had to re-create a Threadless t-shirt as a cake, my favourite was this You Are The Best cake by Leslie Evans. Look at the all the bloody detail on that lettering?! Everyone seems to be using ‘fondant’ though? Not nearly as tastey as marzipan, yum yum, looks like it might be a bit more sturdy to work with though.
God knows how long photographer Chris McVeigh (powerpig) had to wait for these chipmunks to get in position to take these shots.. Worth the wait though, they’re amazing! All shots from the series here »
This one of Chewy handing over the nut cracks me up:
Make sure you check out the rest of his work, consistently awesome.
I‘ve seen a shit load of clock variations over the years, been this digital clock display made out of rotating analogue clocks wins hands down. Right I’m off to build one!

Ha ha, Nicky just showed me this three frames site, simple idea really well done, recommend having a look through.
