Adobe UI Gripes

Ican’t say I’ve ever got that frustrated with any of Adobe’s interfaces, you just learn your way around and get on with it. But it’s always amusing to hear someone having a good old moan – Adobe UI Gripes.

“Fireworks CS4: Disabled the retarded tabbed interface, then went to open 10 images to drag into my site design… OH LOOK THEY ALL OPEN FULL FUCKING SCREEN. Nice work you bunch of cunts, when adding your utterly pointless and tedious tabbed bullshit you managed to ruin how it worked before.”

WordPress Plugins

I‘ve added a few new plugins to my blog lately, thought I’d just give them a quick shout out:

Yet Another Related Posts Plugin
If you view an individual post there’s now a list of 5 other ‘similar’ posts listed at the bottom of the page. I’ve been monitoring how relevant these actually are and it’s seems to pick the posts that I would if I were doing it manualy. Get the plugin here »

Comment to Email Plugin
Often when I recieve I comment on my blog I’m not sure whether i should email the person directly or respond in the comments. Well now I can cover my bases and do both at the same time with the Comment to Email plugin. Also by Nate is a little tool called CSS Text Wrapper, you know how you can flow text within a shape in illustrator, well now you can do it with CSS too!

Get Recent Comments
In the sidebar there’s 2 new sections Recent Comments & Recent Trackbacks displaying a bit more info about who’s talking and where incoming links are from. Get the plugin here »

If you have any top tips of other WordPress plugins I should be using please let me know :)

And finally, I updated my little favicon in a address bar. You’ll only see it animated if you’re using Firefox, so here it is for the rest of us » Animated Favicon

Art Brut(e) – Jessie Peterson

Frank Zappa at home with his mum and dad

Ifound Art Brut(e) this morning after Jessie linked up my Christmas cheat sheets, 2 hours later I’ve just finnished digging through her archives… Anyhow, chock full of good stuff, I’ve cherry picked some of my favs here: Nicky had shown me Life magazines photo archive on google before, but I hadn’t seen these shots of musicians from the 70’s in their parents homes before, brilliant! Above is Frank Zappa at home with parents Francis and Rosemary.

Can’t be bothered to do any more pictures, here just some quick links: A lighthearted look at the relationships among marketing roles, Half a conversation t-shirtsMichael Gilletes Bond book covers and whatever you do, don’t miss Three Legged Legs‘ – Piece of Me, Piece of You – zombie puppet short.

Wilson Miner

Wilson Miner

Good to see a site without a white or black background, loving the shade of green used on Wilson Miner’s new site (only full green effect on the homepage mind). Masterfully laid out, I’m almost tempted to take it into photoshop and work out the grid system he’s used. If you compare it to his old site, you can see what a good job he’s done. Not surprising though he’s the guy who designed www.apple.com no less.

Woh, I’ve just been back and it’s changed colour, it’s now a kind of yellow, I’m liking.

.ly domain names

.ly domain names

Me & Nicky just bought www.vague.ly, after seeing a post about .ly domain names on 90 Percent of Everything. They aren’t particularly cheap, cost $75 for each year over at Libyan Spider, but I quite like them :) There’s a load of cool ones still available, had to restrain myself, others we considered were: jel.ly, amazing.ly, graphical.ly, diagonal.ly, ethical.ly Not quite sure what we’re going to use it for yet, I’m sure it’ll come in handy though!

Wavish Industries

Wavish Industries

I‘ve just spent most of my morning trawling through the back catalogue of posts on the blog Wavish Industries, written by Nick Wavish an Interactive Director at Unit 9. Couldn’t help myself cherry picking some of my favourites to post here. Above is the hilarious Message from Batman, this clever Mario ad, the well spotted volume dial up to 11 on BBC iPlayer, Wallace & Gromit start male modeling, the awesome typograhic work of Craig Ward and this clever google images game. Anyhow, added to my list of blogs I regularly read :)

Made by Nico

Nico Nuzzaci

You might of noticed I’ve been updating a few things round here, well I think I’ve finally got my blog looking and working just as I like it now. Still got a loads of work to add to the portfolio, will be adding new/old stuff each evening. Apologies to folk who subscribe to my RSS, I think my post dating of old work might be a bit annoying…

Anyhow, just wanted to give a big thank you to Nico Nuzzaci who built it for me. He’s made it super easy for me to update, it’s just the same as posting normal blog entries but to special hidden categories. I’m loving it :) The multi talented Nico not only designs and develops at Poke, but he’s also lead guitar in CRANK, rock on!

Also a pre-emptive nod to Knotty who’s trying to figure out how to get my Google maps widget working for our Continental Divide Trail walk shortly.
