Who's the Drunkest?

Client: Personal

It was my last day at Poke and my last day in England for 6 months, so I organised a massive drinking game to celebrate! Congratulations to Dezza for winning, he now has his very own Tankard kept for him behind the bar at the Owl & Pussycat :)

I’ve always enjoyed making (and participating!) in these type of drinking games & charts, you can see a couple more in this post.

Poke Sticker Saverbook

Client: Poke | Agency: Poke

This hasn’t been printed yet, but here’s a preview. At Poke we have to get our visitors to wear a sticker with the poke logo on while they’re in the building - something to do with fire regulations. We thought we could possibly use this to do something nice for our visitors, so we made this Sticker Saverbook. Basically it work like the old Green Shield Stamps, each time you visit you get your security sticker, when you leave you peel it off your jumper and add it to the book. So for clients who visit a lot, they can save up for some special Poke treats from our goodies catalogue :)

infographic of the Continental Divide Trail route

Client: Personal

This is an infographic of my 3000 mile route across America on the Continental Divide Trail, due to start walking in May 2008! I produced this to get my head round the basic logistics - The white markers are towns we’ll be passing through to get supplies, with the dates we’re hoping to get there. The black & orange arrows indicate how many miles there are in between each town, how many days I expect it will take us to cover the distance and the average daily distance we need to do to get there on time. It looks deceptively simple, but this took me hours and hours to work out, and went through many many revisions! The chances of us sticking to this are zero, but it’ll be interesting to see how close my predictions are.

Client: K-Y | Agency: Poke

Asite I designed and illustrated, it’s the Are you British in Bed Quiz or K-Y Jelly ;) We basically built a sex quiz located in a passport control booth (I didn’t think of the idea!). It’s pretty well done if I don’t say so myself, Dezza & Russ did the flash development, Mattias did the HTML and FaceBook application. So on give it a go, it is actually pretty funny.

cardboard party flyer

Client: Personal

This year the theme for my birthday party was cardboard, you could come as anything as long as you built it out of cardboard! This is the invite I designed for it. You check out some of the costumes here.

The Girls version:

Vital stats girls

The Boys version:

Vital stats boys

Client: Personal

Blokes (and girls!) should know their partners vitals stats… but we all need some help from time to time! I made these Christmas 2007 to try and take the guess work out of shopping for your better half. Print 2 out, fill one out with your sizes and give it to your partner. Get your partner to fill out the other and give it back. Then head out shopping!

You can download the pdf for girls here & and the pdf for boys here.

I did design a HTML web version (below) for Poke to send round as a Christmas card type thing, but sadly it never saw the light of day… If you’re a developer and are interested in making it happen, get in touch, would make a nice little site!

draft excluder snakes

Client: Knotty & Kate

This is the wedding present me and Nicky made for Andrew & Kate. Basically just a couple of basic snake draft excluders, but tied together in a love/friendship knot (their surname is Knott!). I also designed their wedding invite that used a load of Australian (where Knotty’s from) flora & fauna twisted together to make a similar knot.

WWF - Get on Board

Client: WWF | Agency: Poke | URL: getonboard.wwf.org.uk

Last year my desk slowly disappeared under a mountain of paper boats, planes and assorted cut out paper graphics… All for a good cause though, WWF were campaigning to get the UK government to tighten up on Carbon emissions in the Climate Change Bill going through parliament. Why all the paper boats and planes? Well we’re trying to highlight the fact that the fastest growing source of C02 emisions - international aviation and shipping - aren’t currently included in the proposed carbon budgets.

granny beddard's handmade preserves jam label

Client: Granny Beddard | Agency: Made in England by Gentlemen

This is Jam label I made for my mate Emma. Sadly she started her teacher training soon after and I haven’t seen any of the jam yet… If you like it, you can also download a desktop of it here.

Spot the Bull

Client: Orange | Agency: Poke | URL: Archived version

Basically there’s a Bull called Derek in a field, at a secret location in England with a GPS device strapped to it. Every day for a month if players can guess exactly where Derek will be in his field at 3pm then they can win much sought after tickets to Glastonbury.

Spot the Bull did so well that we’re launching version 2 shortly (not designed by me next time round).

David Gest Blog

Client: ITV | Agency: Poke | URL: www.davidgest.tv

This is the blog I designed for David Gest when he had a reality show on ITV. It’s totally bonkers, just like the man himself. Must of got it just right because David loved it so much that he had the cover of his Autobiography re-designed to look just like it :)

Malice Box

Client: Penguin | Agency: Poke | URL: www.maliceboxquest.com

This was a site for the publisher Penguin, to promote a new book called The Malice Box. The book is a bit like the Da Vinci Code - a dude runs about the place, solving puzzles and saving the world. In the book he has a GPS device called ‘The Quad’ to help him get around. For the online game we created, you get to navigate the globe using google maps. Basically you solve puzzles, guess locations of ‘Red Gold’ on the map and win prizes.

mobmates website for kids

Client: Orange | Agency: Poke | URL: www.mobmates.co.uk

Mob Mates is a Pay as go tariff for kids from Orange. This could of been so much better than it was, not because of the design I might add! Because Orange screwed up the tariff, when we initially did the focus groups the tariff was simply - All calls and texts 2p. The kids loved it and I thought it was going to a real big deal. Sadly Orange slowly started shoehorning more and more hidden conditions in as we were going along… Have to top up by at least £15 a month, only works between other Mob Mates… In the end the kids felt they were being shafted by the small print and not getting what they signed up for, and rightly so! Shame, shame, I worked on this project for ever too :(

I just did the design, Mysterious Al did all the characters and Knotty did all the development.
