Are you British in Bed?

Client: K-Y | Agency: PokeURL: http://www.areyoubritishinbed.co.uk/

This site was to promote K-Y Jelly’s new product Touch Massage. We basically built a sex quiz located in a passport control booth and asked the question - Are you British in Bed?. The advertising agency Mother lead creatively and I took care of the design, art direction and illustration.

WWF - Get on Board

Client: WWF | Agency: Poke | URL: getonboard.wwf.org.uk

Last year my desk slowly disappeared under a mountain of paper boats, planes and assorted cut out paper graphics… All for a good cause though, WWF were campaigning to get the UK government to tighten up on Carbon emissions in the Climate Change Bill going through parliament. Why all the paper boats and planes? Well we’re trying to highlight the fact that the fastest growing source of C02 emisions – international aviation and shipping – aren’t currently included in the proposed carbon budgets.

Roome Consulting Website

Client: Roome Consulting | Agency: Made in England by Gentlemen | URL: www.roome.co.uk

This is the site I made for my flatmates recruitment consultancy. This is probably the most involved I’ve been in a site, she had no idea what she wanted or needed in a site, so it was a complete blank canvas. The team was me doing the concepting, site architecture, branding, design, illustration, animation and project management. Eleanor provided the copy and my mate Mattias coded it up.

Spot the Bull

Client: Orange | Agency: Poke | URL: Archived version

Basically there’s a Bull called Derek in a field, at a secret location in England with a GPS device strapped to it. Every day for a month if players can guess exactly where Derek will be in his field at 3pm then they can win much sought after tickets to Glastonbury. The site became a mini-phenomenon and with no media or PR support it ended up generating masses of online coverage as well as pickup in mainstream press and TV.

David Gest Blog

Client: ITV | Agency: Poke | URL: www.davidgest.tv

This is the blog I designed for David Gest when he had a reality show on ITV. It’s totally bonkers, just like the man himself. Must of got it just right because David loved it so much that he had the cover of his Autobiography re-designed to look just like it :)

Malice Box

Client: Penguin | Agency: Poke | URL: www.maliceboxquest.com

This was a site for the publisher Penguin, to promote a new book called The Malice Box. The book is a bit like the Da Vinci Code – a dude runs about the place, solving puzzles and saving the world. In the book he has a GPS device called ‘The Quad’ to help him get around. For the online game we created, you get to navigate the globe using google maps. Basically you solve puzzles, guess locations of ‘Red Gold’ on the map and win prizes.

mobmates website for kids

Client: Orange | Agency: Poke | URL: www.mobmates.co.uk

Aimed squarely at the youth pay-as-you-go market the plan was to create something that would get Orange legitimately involved with the explosive growth of social networks. So we created a system whereby if you invite someone to join Orange, and they do, you both get super-cheap texts and calls to each other (and everyone else in your friend’s network).

Orange retail recruitment site

Client: Orange | Agency: Poke

This was a site to help Orange attract new employees for their retail stores, the project actually got canned after I did the initial designs… But I thought I’d post them anyhow, I loved the icons I did for them on the benefits page :)

cock-a-doodle - lots & lots of dick doodles

Client: Poke | Agency: Poke | URL: www.cockadoodle.co.uk

Put a blank piece of paper in front of a guys the first thing they draw is a cartoon cock. Cock-a-doodle is a celebration of that art. Sometimes you get to do a site that you were born for, this was one of those occasions! My colleagues at work got a bit worried about me for a while as they came past my desk to find me buried beneath piles of cock drawings… But it was a lot of fun! What are you wait for, your just one click from doodling dick!

This is probably the premiere user-generated penis drawing site on the internet ;) As a bonus it was a winner at Design Week’s Awards 2007 and got in the D&AD book too!

Yahoo! Mail - National Treasures

Client: Yahoo! | Agency: Poke | URL: www.nationaltreasures.yahoo.co.uk

This is a website I designed to promote Yahoo’s new Photo Mail service. It was good fun to work on, as I’m a big fan of British eccentricity. There’s a mix of info on bizarre events around the country, an eccentric quiz and a competition to find the most eccentric photo - now long closed.

118 118

Client: 118 118 | Agency: glue

The telephone directory enquires service 118 118 needed a new website to capture all the customers it was losing to online searches. I left glue before the project was completed and much of ideas and designs weren’t taken forward – shame.

Are you British in Bed?

Client: glue | Agency: glue

Blimey this looks dated now! Anyhow, if you can remember that far back, pixel fonts were once all the rage ;) I joined glue in 2001 and soon got the job of re-designing their website, it was an continuous on going project and I became pretty much their brand guardian until I left in 2005.
