New Paintings

Series of yellow paintings with various woodland animals. For roome consulting

After I did the Roome Consulting website for my friend Eleanor, she asked me to make her some paintings to decorate the walls of her new office. I was given pretty much free rein so it was a fun project. Luckily I had Nicky to help me paint them, partly because they were big (1m x 1m), but also because painting doesn’t really come naturally to me. For someone more used to colouring in on a computer, using a paint brush can sometimes be a bit of a long winded chore… But they do look infinitely better on a wall than a printout!

Do you look like your blog?

You know the old saying ‘owners look like their pets‘. Well I was discussing blogging in general with my girlfriend Nicky last night and we wondered whether bloggers looked like their blogs?

Ok so here’s a test, this is me and this is my blog:

comparison of how much Cookie looks like his blog

I generally wear things that I like and don’t ever really give a thought (or fuck) to how they’d all look together. Today is a reasonable example; I’ve got my Social Suicide suit jacket, funny t-shirt, standard jeans, a pair of Nike vintage trainers and the card board graphics I was working on last night in a plastic bag.

I think I post to my blog in pretty much the same way as I dress. I just post the things that interest or amuse me without much (or any) editorial thought or planning. So at the moment the blog is sporting a post about car icons, a picnic table condiments set, some vintage photography and some graphic art… and it has a moustache just like me too!

Both me and Nicky thought this was conclusive proof that ‘I look like my blog‘. Do you or don’t you look like your blog and why?

The Pyrenean High Level Route

Blighmy this is a blast from the past! Just dragged out my old holiday video from summer 2003, hardly recognise myself with no facial hair, or even any on the top of my head for that matter…

This was a 3 week walk across part of the Pyrenean High Level Route. It was the first long distance walk I’d done with mates rather than the parents, hence the amount of booze we can be seen to be consuming! It was a great trip and the first of it’s kind for Paul, who has joined me every year since on my summer ramblings.

Of course The Who’s fantastic Baba O’Riley is the soundtrack.
