I got a new mac recently and it came with iMovie 8, great I thought got a new holiday video to editing and still half way through the one from last year… Problem was though, iMovie 8 can’t open my old iMovie project :( and not only that, features are missing that makes editing the new video very frustrating. Biggest problem for me is not being able to view the audio waveforms on a timeline. I basically edit my footage to sync up with music, that’s near impossible now. Also there’s just no feeling of precision or control over the trimming and play head positioning.
There is a solution though! Just found out that you can now download and reinstall iMovie HD 6 from Apple’s website. Thank god for that, I was getting worried for a moment. Yay for old software that didn’t need improving upon in the first place.
