These mix & match character cards are great. Can’t remember the linkage source.. but the scans are on takeabreak’s Flickr.

Mister sleeep
I‘m loving Mister Sleeep’s brightly coloured marker drawings. Reminds me of my youth, always used to draw with markers before I got a computer and discovered illustrator..
He’s also got another Flickr – Fast-Times, where he shares a load of Empheria goodness. Oh actually, I think this might be his lady friend’s.

Cartoon Political Maps of Europe
The always fascinating BibliOdyssey has un-earthed and scanned some of those cartoon political maps. I’m a big fan of maps and a big fan of cartoons, so seeing them both together always puts a smile on my face. Here’s the Satirical Maps post, here’s an older post – Dogs of War, specifically about First World War maps.
Here’s a few more that I like – Hark! Hark! The Dogs Do Bark, European Revue (Kill That Eagle) and Das heutige Europa.
I’m particularly puzzled by this one below, what on earth could be going on there ;)
LetterCult – Custom Letters
Holy shit, LetterCult have posted probably the most inspiring post(s) I’ve seen in a long while – Part 1 & Part 2. Featuring the best Custom Letters (built from scratch, not customised) of 2009. Been spending too much time today searching out the different people’s sites (annoyingly they don’t provide links), wait a sec, here’s a page with the links (cheers Francine).
There’s some familiar faces that I’ve blogged about before, so I’ll highlight a few favourites by people new to me:
Esther Aarts:
Esther’s got a nice freehand retro style, her Illustrations are great too, might do a seperate post about them.
Jessica Hische:
I’ve actually seen Jessica’s stuff before but never got round to posting it, lovely playful type treatments abound. Check out her blog here and she’s just released her first typeface here.
Richard Perez:
This guys works is fucking awesome, a mix of illustration, design and typography and a real mix of different styles. The image at the top of this post is by Richard too.
Linzie Hunter:
Her Spam Project cracks me up, plenty more great work where that came from too.

Mini Goals Chalkboard
Me & Nicky have been thinking about getting an old chalkboard for the house. Now I’ve seen Mary Kate McDevitt’s Mini Goal Chalkboard set, I’m insprired to go out and customise themself one.
She did have some for sale on her etsy, but they’re all gone now.

The Beatles – Rockband
You’ve got to see this awesome cinematic teaser for the new Rockband game, Beatles edition. It’s starts off pretty good, nice 2D animation, well stylised. Then the boys parachute down, like the Lemmings, into a proper bonkers psychedelic wonderland, I loved it.
Directed by Pete Candeland of Passion Pictures, the guy who did the Gorillaz videos with Jamie Hewlett.
It’s a shame the actual game isn’t stylised the same..

English Things
Hwa Young Jung has done a great job of cataloging and drawing various English Things. It’s funny, a lot of them I don’t think of as being ‘english’, they’re just normal. Interesting that someone new to the country is so fascinated by our brands.
I’m glad to see that he’s got my local beer from back home on there – Timothy Taylor’s Landlord. It’s the most awarded beer in the country and 4 times winner of beer of the year :) Grab yourself a 12 pack »
30 Ways to Die of Electrocution
Here’s some pretty strange diagrams of 30 ways to die by electrocution from a 1931 illustrated German book on electric safety. Anybody got any idea what the hell’s going on with that baby electrocution. Can’t for the life in me think what that contraption would be for, other than to electrocute you!

Always with honor
I came across the work of always with honor on Cargo. It’s a collaboration between Tyler Lang & Elsa Chaves (whose personal sites are well worth a look), they specialise in simple/fun icons and infographics.
Hand Birds
I‘ve blogged about Mootsie (Francesco Muzzi) before, twice in fact, but I’m going to blog about him agian because I love these Hand bird t-shirts he’s designed.
