Pie Town here we are!

M et up with some more CDT hikers on our way into Pie Town, Joe & Mike and Heesoo (sorry don’t know how to spell…) walking on his own. Many thanks to Nita for putting us up in their home, and the Daily Pie for our full bellies :)

Lost in the woods

We got completely lost the trail this morning and spent about 3 hours bushwhacking though forest before picking it up again…

Camping Stove Quesadillas

This is a new lunchtime snack for me and Paul, thanks again to our rancher trail angel – Andre :) bizarely he turned up again just as we were cooking these, this time he was lost on his way back from dropping off Linda! We gave him some directions and he gave a couple more beers in return!

Day 17

Still in the Gila National Forest, long fast marching today mainly on hard gravel forest roads. We’re taking a bit of a cross country shortcut in this shot though.

Frost on the Moustache

First sub zero night out on the CDT, above is the frozen condensation on our tent. We were only camped at 8000ft, it’s going to get much colder as we get higher… Some of the surrounding hills still have snow on.

Eating our steak

Even though we only had half the steak each, this was by far the biggest steak I’d ever eaten! Meat Club -link- would of been proud, no veg, no nothing, just pure beef was eaten tonight :) The knife cut through it like butter and it tasted delicious, can’t say it was the best prepared or cooked steak I’d ever eaten, but in the circumstance its got to be a 9 out of 10 on the steak score. Sadly no apple pie for pudding…
