Chinoise Fondue

Ah man, the first and only time I’ve had one of these before was when I was a kid. I reckon it left a lasting impression on me more than anything else -I’ve ever eaten, but this is the first time I’ve come across it since, so we had to order it!

Basically you get a plate full of raw thinly sliced beef, which you dunk in a pot of boiling broth to cook. Which is interesting enough, but the best bit is the selection of sauces you eat it with, I don’t know 20 odd different flavours, all a taste sensation.

Also once you’ve finished all the meat, they stick some sherry in the broth and you have a tastey soup to finish, yum yum :) It didn’t dissapoint, every bit as good as I remembered.

Engelberg

Well Nicky was in high spirits yesterday, but I think 11 hours on the foot took it out of her, so she refused to move any further today. Oh well, the Rosti’s on offer in Engelberg are top
-notch and they have pubs with free wireless (where I’m sat now) so it hasn’t been too bad :)

We’ve also upgraded our kit with ice axe & crampons because of the amount of snow still knocking around. More due tonight/tomorrow by the looks of it..

First Camp

To be honest, I’d completely forgotten how frickin’ awesome Swiss campsites were. I’ve stayed in 4 stars hotels with less impressive bogs than this place. Pitty I didn’t get a shot of the playground, it had wooden rafts on lakes, big inflatable bouncy things, climbing trees and everything else. If I wasn’t so tired, I would of been all over them (once the kids went to sleep).

Beer at Blackenboden

The great thing about the Alps is that after only 1 hour of descent from a wild remote place you can have a cold beer in your hands :) And then you can pub crawl all the way to the valley bottom (which of course we did).
