Also on the cut & paste theme is this beautiful type treatment of the word Organic by Neuarmy. I love those old botanical illustrations, and they’ve been put to fine use here.

Tofdru
Stumbled across the portfolio of Tofdru on Cargo today, it made my day, no shit made my year, this guys work is awesome. I didn’t think I’d see the day when a cut & paste collage artist would top Terry Gilliam, but I think he has. Can’t find out much about him other than he must own crap load of vintage magazines, I suspect he’s French, but his info page is in Japanese?
Update: Yeah he’s probably French, my Japanese friend says he must have used translation software, grammer is all over the place and it doesn’t make sense…
Also here’s his Flickr.
Mister sleeep
I‘m loving Mister Sleeep’s brightly coloured marker drawings. Reminds me of my youth, always used to draw with markers before I got a computer and discovered illustrator..
He’s also got another Flickr – Fast-Times, where he shares a load of Empheria goodness. Oh actually, I think this might be his lady friend’s.

Cartoon Political Maps of Europe
The always fascinating BibliOdyssey has un-earthed and scanned some of those cartoon political maps. I’m a big fan of maps and a big fan of cartoons, so seeing them both together always puts a smile on my face. Here’s the Satirical Maps post, here’s an older post – Dogs of War, specifically about First World War maps.
Here’s a few more that I like – Hark! Hark! The Dogs Do Bark, European Revue (Kill That Eagle) and Das heutige Europa.
I’m particularly puzzled by this one below, what on earth could be going on there ;)
9000
Ihave to be honest, I’m not all together sure what the hell’s going on here… But the fact that this guy has produced such a vast body of work that I’m struggling to understand or even describe is surely worthy of note. Check out 9000’s photostream here and see if you can make any sense of it.
30 Ways to Die of Electrocution
Here’s some pretty strange diagrams of 30 ways to die by electrocution from a 1931 illustrated German book on electric safety. Anybody got any idea what the hell’s going on with that baby electrocution. Can’t for the life in me think what that contraption would be for, other than to electrocute you!

Bank Logos
Wow here’s a crap load of hi-res black & white scans of old bank logos, how fresh are some of these looking? Looks like they might of been scanned from old newspaper ads, loving the fucked-up effects of reproduction.
Via: but does it float.
Cristina Couceiro
With equal sized dollops of Victoriana and Modernism, I’m loving the work of Cristina Couceiro on her Sete Dias site »

Modern alphabets circa 1864
It’s funny to think that some of these typefaces were ever considered ‘modern’, but also quite surprising how ‘modern’ some of them actually are for 1864! The Modern alphabets circa 1864 was scanned by Depression Press, who has a plethora of empheria sets to check out »

Zara Picken
Fresh out of uni with a first class degree in illustration, Zara seems to be getting lots of interesting briefs for her highly textured illustartion style with beautiful muted earthy coulors. It’s a style that I’m starting to move towards myself, so good to see that she’s doing well with it :)
