I‘ve got a keen eye on Michael Rissi’s Vimeo feed, for jems like this beautiful Swiss Alps at night timelpase. Be sure to check out his daytime one too, amazing stuff.
Circus Clown Bikes
These old clown bikes are too cute, half tempted to buy a couple for my niece & nephew, or maybe I need an impractically small and rusty old bike..? Probably not, but yours for $385 from Modern 50.

Ramona Falls “I Say Fever”
Fantastic music video for Ramona Falls debut single I Say Fever. I’ve watched it through half a dozen times, song’s great and the animation is spot on, crank up the volume sit back and enjoy. The animation is by the talented Stefan Nadelman.

Awesome Halloween costume
I take my hat off to Eric Testroete for his Halloween costume this year. It was inspired by ‘big-head mode’ in videogames and is surprisingly creepy when seen in the real world.

A Love Letter For You
I‘m loving this series of murals – A Love Letter For You, by Stephen Powers. He’s still got a few more to do (50 comissioned in total), reminds me a bit of Bob & Roberta Smith’s shop signage stuff around Hoxton Street, although Steve’s stuff is much more graphically interesting and funny.

Drawings on paper towels
Nice take on toilet graffiti by doodler Marc Johns, check out all his paper towel drawings here. Must remember my felt tip next time I’m dropping the kids off.

Typekit
Finally I got my Typekit invite yesterday :) It’s ridiculous really when you think about how long the web has built on only a handfull of fonts.. well no longer!
All the major browsers are now starting to support this embeded font thing if you provide a URL in your CSS to the font file, great news. Problem is there’s not that many fonts that you can ‘legally’ use in this way. That’s where Typekit comes in, it’s essentially web only font licencing service, with some clever stuff behind the scenes that smoothes out differences in how browsers handle type.
You can sign up and use the free fonts (for free), or drop a bit of cash (up to $50 a year subscription) to get access to hundreds more.
“For designers and developers, this is a significant step forward. No longer will you need to trap your content in images or Flash just to express yourself visually. Pages will be more usable, accessible, and indexable.”
I’ve been having a little play around with it, and am currently using Buendia by César Puertas for the titles. I think it might be time for a full re-design soon though.
Tachetags
Movember + Twitter & Hashtags = Tachetags! This was the brainchild of a mate at Blast radius, who got me in as the ‘moustache expert’ to make it happen.
Basically the idea is you upload daily photos of your folical folly to twitter (using twitpic, yfrog or img.ly) and add #tachetag in the text. We’ll pull them all into tachetag.com where you and anyone else can see your progress and, if they like the look of your hirsute heroics, add a donation in your name.
There a few more features in the wings, like being able to post images directly on the site, personal pages with all your photos and hopefully an animated gif of it growing.
Canabalt
My new favourite iPhone/iPod game is Canabalt by Adam Atomic. Your little pixel dude is trying to escape what looks like some sort of alien invasion, and he’s running for his dear life. All you can do is choose when he should jump (by clicking), between rooftops, through windows into offices and across cranes etc.
Makes for a quick game, but super fast paced and addictive. My top score is 7927m, see if you can beat that! Also you play it online (free) here »
Weekly Desktop Part 45
Well we’re 3 days into Movember, so here’s a summary of possible moustache styles in desktop picture format to inspire all those taking part this year. If this is the first you’ve heard of Movember then you should sign up and help change the face of men’s health.
The illustrations are actually taken from a fun Movember related site I’ve been working on, more details when it goes live… soon!
