Flowing data have published their 5 Best Data Visualization Projects of the Year. I hadn’t seen the stuff from BBC’s Britain from Above before (pictured), you can view them on their YouTube page, awesome work.

Huge Hog Balls
Ialmost fell off my chair with laughter when I saw this photo, also pretty funny are dog lips and this plushie proportioned cat. It’s from a site aptly called – don’t click this.what in gods.name. To be honest I wouldn’t recommend clicking the link, it’s seriously dark shit and totally not safe for work, as they rightly state – USE EXTREME CAUTION when opening images. Whatever you try, it is not possible to un-see something.
More Trochut
I‘ve lost count how many times I’ve blogged about this guy, but Alex Trochut is simply doing the best work out there (in my opinion). He’s just updated his site with some fresh works, so get over there and check out the standard which we mere mortals have to try and step up to and match.
Rob Gauntlett Tragedy
Ah crap this is not good news, just heard that on January 10th Rob Gauntlett and climbing partner James Atkinson fell to their deaths while climbing Mont Blanc. Both were only 21 years of age, but from what I’ve read of Rob, he’s crammed a lifetime’s worth of achievements into those few short years.
He was the Youngest Brit aged 19 to climb Mount Everest in 2006 with friend James Hooper, also 19 (pictured is Rob on the summit of Everest). In 2007 the pair set off on an epic journey from the North to South pole mostly on foot, bike, and ship. Completing the journey the journey in 2008 won them the much coverted National Geographic Adventurer of the Year award. What the guy could of achieved if this hadn’t of happened we can only imagine, my condolences go out to both men’s friends and families.
Growing Old
Growing old’s a funny thing, pre-drinking age you can’t grow old fast enough, but by the time you’re 30 you realise that you’re already older than you ever want to be. Anyhow, the Goldberg family from Argentina have painstakingly documented there own ageing process and it’s fascinating to see.

How much does your poo weigh?
Last year Poke were getting their loo’s done up, there was all sorts of suggestions but my idea was to turn one of the toilets into a weighing scale. Rigged up to a big pinball machine type score board, letting you know the mass of the deposit you’re just made. Obviously top ten load droppers could then enter their names onto the leader board and maybe a siren would go off…
Well it looks like Chinese industrial designer Haikun Deng has been thinking on the same wavelength with her Light Girl toilet seat concept. Albeit with a slightly more practically angle of giving weight conscious ladies the instant satisfaction of losing a few pounds. Rather than a contest to see who can do the biggest poo…

Are you having a wank?
Well why not let the folk outside your room know with these handy Honest Hangers. Designed by Olly Moss as part of his Make some cool every day set. It’s funny, only a few hours ago I was telling someone that I was trying to stop posting cock related content to my site… I can’t help it though, people keep sending me it, and it is bloody funny :)
Cheers for the link Nicky.
DAYTUM
Idon’t think I’ve ever been quite so excited by the prospect of using a website before. The damn thing’s in private beta, I’ve submitted me email, but how long is it going to take before I gain access? I don’t think I can stand the suspense! I’m sure you all know of Nicholas Felton’s dedicatedly detailed and beautifully designed annual reports. Well he’s gone and teamed up interactive designer Ryan Case and built an online version – DAYTUM – for us all to track our daily data.
I can feel that this is going to be massive, as a serious tool and for comedy value (spoof stats). I hope it does well and they’re able to keep on developing it, there’s massive potential here. Get on there now, sign yourself up and have a look though some of the beta testers stats.
Update: Nicholas kindly got in touch and sent me an invite, just been adding my stats (mostly of a booze related nature), you can now see all my 2009 data here. Also the Feltron 2008 Annual Report is now here.
Hanna Typeface
I‘ve been looking for this font for a while, what the font didn’t have a clue, but here it is – say hello to Hanna. It’s a bit reminiscent of the hand drawn type in Dr. Strangelove’s title sequence. Designed by Travis Stearns among many other typefaces on the YouWorkForThem site, I also bought Neighborhood.
Jolly Good
Ha ha, this really put a smile on my face, I’ve seen a lot of variations on the Hollywood sign, but this Jolly Good one is by far the best :) by b3ta user Alpaca.
