Mojito

Mountain Mojito on the trail

What no margarita? Well they say variety is the spice of life, and anyhow fresh mint was 2 for 1 at the supermarket. We’re still using the lemon and lime powder, bit of sugar, mint, splash of water and of course some rum :) Muddle it up with a spoon and it’s not bad at all, very refreshing at the end of the day! Pity the mint is going to be pretty hard to come by, or this could easily become a regular feature.

Awesome Sunset

After crossing a high pass me and Paul had a look a the weather and concluded, looks like a thunderstorm tonight, but also looks like it’d be an awesome sunset. We took the risk and camped high up, just on the edge of the tree line. Certainly paid off, we got about half an hour of the sky changing through beautifull colours while sipping our margaritas :)

Dedication to a good drink

Can you see the green bag strapped to the top of Paul’s rucksack? Well that’s usually the bag we hang our food in, away from the prying claws of bears. But now that it’s almost July and the remnants of last winters snow are melting fast, we’re having to pack down the snow from the high passes to make our margaritas with! Well worth the effort though :)

Dull as dish water

This section of the CDT seems a total let down in comparison to the San Juans we’ve just come across. It’s low down, generally in trees and on two track, not even any snow for our margaritas! Good opportunity to get our heads down a do some milage though.

I’ve Found the holy grail!

I knew something like this had to exist, and finally I’ve found it :) Bar Tenders instant Margarita mix – can’t wait to try it out on the trail. Good job we found it too as the turn out for our margarita competition was poor, as in zero :( never mind, we’re sorted now, they even do a tonne of different flavours, check out the range on the back!

Rest day today

Updated the blog, called the girl friends, ordered some gloves and stuff online, had a sauna and swim. Its now 3pm and time to start drinking Margaritas :)

Palm Springs

We’re staying at an amazing 50’s hotel called The Hideaway, doesn’t seem to be any guests other than me and Nicky, got this whole garden to ourselves :) It’s hot as hell on the valley floor, margaritas are keeping us cool though.
